إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
TRANSLITERATION
In hiya illā asmāʾun sammaytumūhā antum waʾābāʾukum mā anzalallāhu bihā min sulṭān, iy yattabiʿūna illaẓ-ẓanna wamā tahwal-anfus, walaqad jāʾahum mir rabbihimul-hudā
ENGLISH TRANSLATION · TALAL ITANI
These are nothing but names, which you have devised, you and your ancestors, for which God sent down no authority. They follow nothing but assumptions, and what the ego desires, even though guidance has come to them from their Lord.
