وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى جَاعِلٌ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ خَلِيفَةً ۖ قَالُوٓا۟ أَتَجْعَلُ فِيهَا مَن يُفْسِدُ فِيهَا وَيَسْفِكُ ٱلدِّمَآءَ وَنَحْنُ نُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِكَ وَنُقَدِّسُ لَكَ ۖ قَالَ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
TRANSLITERATION
Waʾidh qāla rabbuka lil-malāʾikati innī jāʿilun fil-arḍi khalīfah, qālū atajʿalu fīhā may yufsidu fīhā wayasfikud-dimāʾ, wanaḥnu nusabbiḥu biḥamdika wanuqaddisu lak, qāla innī aʿlamu mā lā taʿlamūn
ENGLISH TRANSLATION · TALAL ITANI
When your Lord said to the angels, “I am placing a successor on earth.” They said, “Will You place in it someone who will cause corruption in it and shed blood, while we declare Your praises and sanctify You?” He said, “I know what you do not know.”
